Hi, I’m Sharon Schanzer.
I run What’s Your Boulder?™ — The Implementation Studio, where I help founders, executives, and organizations move critical initiatives from “in progress” to finished and functioning.
Most people don’t have a strategy problem. They have an execution problem.
That’s where I come in.
I work inside the mess—unclear priorities, stalled projects, too many moving parts—and create momentum. I identify the real blocker (the “boulder”), remove friction, and drive the work forward with clarity and speed. My approach is hands-on, highly strategic, and grounded in more than three decades of operating across technology, consulting, publishing, and digital systems.
I’m also the founder of RLDGROUP — The Design Studio, where I’ve led web and print initiatives ranging from WordPress and Shopify builds to complex production and environmental graphics. While design remains part of my background, my work today increasingly centers on implementation, decision-making, and execution at a higher level.
As an Astia Advisor, I support the identification and evaluation of high-performing, women-led companies addressing meaningful global challenges—bringing an operator’s lens to early-stage and growth businesses.
I’ve spent 35+ years doing one thing exceptionally well:
turning ideas, plans, and complexity into real, finished results.

I’ve held senior leadership roles in technology and consulting, including:
- Vice President of Client Services at Collabridge Technologies, where I recruited and managed a 12-person client services team and oversaw enterprise relationships with clients, including IBM, Intel, InFocus, Iomega, HP, NEC, Mitsubishi, Seagate, Sharp, Kia, and Hyundai.
- Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Virtual Giveaway, an early online “advergaming” software company, where I was responsible for business development, marketing, and PR.
- Principal / City Leader at Luminant Worldwide / Interactive8, where I founded and ran the San Francisco office of a global internet consultancy, managing business development, project delivery, and operational processes.
Before that, I founded and ran Madison Technologies, a New York City–based technology consultancy specializing in publishing and design systems. Clients included The New York Times, Milton Glaser, Century Books, Sotheby’s, Reader’s Digest, and Travel & Leisure. I served as the primary client-facing expert across editorial, production, and technology.
I began my career at Condé Nast, where I managed IT services and led the implementation of a $4M company-wide system for the editorial, advertising, research, and circulation departments, recruiting and managing technical staff. And before Condé Nast, I dabbled in technical writing at KPMG.
In parallel with my core consulting and implementation work, I have founded and led multiple initiatives, including AI FOMO NoMo, an educational program designed to make AI practical and accessible for non-technical professionals, and (name TBD) Upper West Side Space for Community, Culture & Connection, a WIP multi-use community space concept in New York City.
Through What’s Your Boulder?, I now bring this full operating history together—helping clients identify the one priority that matters, simplify overbuilt systems, and execute with clarity. I am often brought in when projects are stalled, politically sensitive, or technically complex, and when judgment matters more than theory.
I’m based in New York City and work remotely and in person. I’m known for moving quickly, asking direct questions, and getting difficult work finished.
Oh, and I LOVE slow travel, train travel, travel photography, Chinese Majong, and classic movies!
